My Present from Santa

So, Christmas morning started out just fine.....then I got sick. First I started feeling achy, then my throat started hurting, and then shocks of aches and pains throughout my body. Oh god, it was terrible. But, here is the fun part. Sofia got this little playhouse for her bedroom and Freddie and her played in it all morning, without any trouble....for about 2 hours. Then they napped for 2 hours. Fred and I didn't know what to do with ourselves. I suppose if we weren't both sick we could have done anything but what we did....which was lay around. But, that is okay. Laying around every once in a while is fun. We watched a documentary about this guy and his wife who brought up their 9 children in a 24 foot trailer going from one surfing spot to another. It was pretty wicked. Then I got to actually read for a little while. So, maybe Santa wanted to give me the best present of all. PEACE AND QUIET!!

What a difference a day makes

24 little hours. They took their nap today. Thank goodness. Just when I think I have had it, things go and change on me. I swear life is just a series of tests to see how much you can handle before you explode or do something you shouldn't. Unfortunately, there are those out there that REALLY explode. Thank God I am not one of those. I have had such a great day. I got to hang out with the horses today in the warm sun. I got to lay on the couch and close my eyes for a few. Then this evening we got an unexpected surprise from our neighbors. Fred was giving the kids baths and I was straightening up the house and our door bell rang. I opened up the door to "We wish you a Merry Christmas" from our next door neighbors. I have never had carolers ever in my life and who would have thought that my first time would be in such an unfriendly town like this. It really made my night. Fred didn't have to work 12 hours tonight so the kids and I got to spend some extra time with him. It is really nice to have him around. I also had no pain in my ankles or back and that had been really bothering me for weeks and all of a sudden a couple of days ago the pain just went away. So far, this week is shaping up nicely. I can't wait to watch the kids open their presents Christmas morning and it is coming up fast. Now I am going to relax on the couch.

oh the day i had

So everything seemed to being going well this morning. I got up at a decent time. Helped Fred get the kids dressed, fed the horses, had breakfast. Then Fred left. It sometimes just seems like after he leaves that some kind of devil takes over the kids' bodies. They were watching cartoons and having snacks and then when 10:30 rolled around, their nap time, I put them up for their naps. Oh god, this is the third day in a row that they went up fine for their nap and came down without one. Now, I am sure there are a lot of people out there that have no idea how important it is for kids to get naps.....but let me tell you....it is IMPORTANT. By 4:00 I felt like I was in a movie with kids hitting each other, fighting over toys, screaming, pulling on my leg....MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY. AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Then devil mommy comes out with this deep dark voice.....GET IN A TIME OUT!!! Oh man, some days it is just like someone is tapping on my shoulder and tapping and tapping and tapping and tapping and tapping.....then I explode. So anyway, they went to bed at 7. I couldn't take it anymore. Now it is almost 10 and I am wondering where my mommy time went. And with that said, I will now go to bed and get up and do it all over again. Lets hope tomorrow things are going to be different.
